The school includes some of the latest additions in Minnesota's Educational system.
Things like rubber mulch for the playground - made out of recycled tires
There are interactive whiteboards in every classroom and a gymnasium with maple floorboards and telescoping basketball hoops.
And...
"The bell system in the school is based on an mp3 player,” says Kevin Jones of SchoolView Technologies.
It also includes a touch screen digital interface that controls audio and video throughout the entire school.
However, it is 17 million dollar school that almost wasn't.
"It took 10 years and I believe it was 7, the 7th referendum was the final one that passed. We only passed our referendum by 70 votes for this school. And that's one of the things we've been very conscious of. We have an obligation to do right not only be the yes voters, but the no voters," says Principal Craig Ihrke.
And hopefully build a brighter future for the entire community.
Chatfield elementary is holding an open house tomorrow from 9 until 11:30 a.m.
The first day of school is September 8th.
